The exterior of the brush pot is fully decorated with a continuous scene of the Azure Dragon chasing the pearl. The underglaze blue carries a deep, moist and somber tone, its blurred wash like surging mist, spreading across the surface to evoke a vast and hazy firmament. The copper-red pigment presents a rich, vivid yet steady hue. The red dragon is powerful and vigorous, with raised head and piercing eyes. Its horns and whiskers are depicted in meticulous detail; its scales overlap neatly with each scale distinctly defined. The dragon’s claws spread forcefully, conveying awe-inspiring momentum.
