In the history of Chinese ceramics, enamel-colored porcelain of the Qianlong period in the Qing Dynasty has become a peak work of Qing Dynasty colored porcelain art with its intricate decorations, gorgeous gold-traced craftsmanship and profound cultural connotations. During the Qianlong reign, the national strength was prosperous, and porcelain making technology integrated the achievements of previous dynasties. Enamel-colored porcelain combined Western techniques with traditional Chinese religious culture, forming a unique luxurious style. This Qianlong imperial-made enamel-colored gold-traced four-armed Guanyin double-eared vase takes "four-armed Guanyin" as its theme, integrating carmine red glaze, gold-traced craftsmanship, religious decorations and royal vessel shapes. It perfectly blends the religious beliefs of the Qing court, the peak level of porcelain making skills and the connotation of auspicious culture. Between the flowing porcelain glaze, it conveys the ceramic culture logic of "taking porcelain as a vessel, conveying charm with colors, and carrying blessings with patterns". It is not only a typical embodiment of Qianlong enamel-colored porcelain, but also a precious relic of Qing Dynasty royal porcelain.

From the perspective of form and decoration, this work fully demonstrates the characteristics of "Qianlong enamel-colored porcelain charm and royal Buddhist charm". The double-eared vase is a classic display vessel shape of the Qing Dynasty. The vase body is in the style of a Yuhuchun vase, with a slender neck decorated with gold-traced Ruyi ears on both sides, smooth and elegant lines; the bottle body is round and plump, with a regular ring foot, symmetrical proportions, showing a dignified and grand royal demeanor. The bottle body is covered with carmine red glaze, which is as bright as a rosy glow, warm and shiny, like coagulated fat and beautiful jade, providing a luxurious background for the enamel-colored decorations, highlighting the brightness and layers of the gold tracing and enamel color materials. The front of the bottle is painted with a four-armed Guanyin statue in enamel color and gold tracing. The Guanyin has a kind face, wears a precious crown, is draped in pearls and jade, has four arms forming mudras or holding ritual implements, has a dignified posture and fluttering clothes, and is decorated with gold-traced Buddha light behind her. The lines are smooth and the layers are distinct, fully showing the sacredness and compassion of Guanyin. The inside of the bottle is covered with pine stone green glaze, and the bottom is inscribed with the four-character gold-traced mark "Qianlong Imperial Made", with dignified and neat font, showing the standard and majesty of royal imperial production. The overall decoration layout is clear with primary and secondary elements. The Guanyin statue is the core, with gold-traced Buddha light and pearls as auxiliary, and carmine red glaze as the foil. The color matching is luxurious and elegant, the enamel color material is delicate and warm, and the gold-traced craftsmanship is exquisite, fully showing the superb craftsmanship and aesthetic level of enamel-colored porcelain in the Qianlong period. Every painted stroke, every layer of gold tracing and every decoration detail condense the ingenuity of porcelain making craftsmen in the Qianlong period, becoming a core material link for analyzing religious themes in Qing Dynasty enamel-colored porcelain.

In terms of craftsmanship and cultural connotation, Qianlong Enamel-Colored Gold-Traced Four-Armed Guanyin Double-Eared Vase embodies the creative pursuit of "enamel color craftsmanship as the bone and royal religious culture as the soul". Enamel-colored porcelain is a special imperial porcelain exclusively for the Qing court. Based on Western enamel color materials and combined with traditional Chinese porcelain making technology, it requires multiple firings with extremely high craftsmanship difficulty and low yield. Therefore, enamel-colored porcelain has been known as "the noble among porcelains" since ancient times. Enamel-colored porcelain of the Qianlong period even pushed the gold-traced craftsmanship to the extreme. The combination of gold color and enamel color formed a gorgeous and luxurious artistic effect. In this work, the firing process of carmine red glaze is exquisite, with uniform and shiny glaze without flow or peeling. The enamel-colored Guanyin statue is drawn delicately, with vivid depictions of facial expressions, folds of clothes and details of ritual implements. The gold-traced Buddha light and pearls have smooth lines, and the gold color is as bright as new, showing the superb painting and gold-traced skills of porcelain making craftsmen. What is particularly exquisite is that the four-armed Guanyin pattern contains profound Buddhist cultural connotations. The four-armed Guanyin symbolizes compassion and wisdom, implying protecting all living beings and bringing peace and smoothness, which is in line with the court's admiration for Buddhist culture in the Qing Dynasty and also reflects the social fashion of "worshipping Buddha" in the Qianlong period. Created in the Qianlong period, during the heyday of the development of Qing Dynasty enamel-colored porcelain, enamel-colored porcelain, as exclusive to the royal family, was not only a symbol of imperial power, but also showed the highest level of Qing Dynasty porcelain making technology. Every color material preparation, every painted outline and every gold-traced firing silently tell the exquisite craftsmanship of Qing Dynasty enamel-colored porcelain and the connotation of royal religious culture, making this work have both the craft beauty of porcelain and the symbolic beauty of royal culture.

From the perspective of cultural and collection value, the Qianlong enamel-colored gold-traced four-armed Guanyin double-eared vase is a "micro mirror" of Qing Dynasty enamel-colored porcelain and royal Buddhist culture. As a representative work of Qianlong enamel-colored porcelain, this double-eared vase, with its exquisite craftsmanship, gorgeous decorations and royal imperial identity, has become a model of Qing Dynasty porcelain, witnessing the prosperous development of Qing Dynasty enamel-colored porcelain and the prosperity of court Buddhist culture. Taking the "four-armed Guanyin double-eared vase" as the carrier, this work not only shows the superb enamel color and gold-traced craftsmanship level of Qing Dynasty porcelain making craftsmen, but also conveys the wish of "compassionate protection, peace and good fortune" in royal culture, which is a vivid embodiment of the combination of traditional Buddhist culture and royal porcelain making technology. In the contemporary collection context, Qianlong enamel-colored porcelain has become a top treasure in the ceramic collection circle due to its scarcity and extremely high artistic value, with historical value, cultural value and collection investment value. The number of surviving Qianlong enamel-colored porcelain is extremely small, most of which are collected in museums at home and abroad, and complete pieces in folk circulation are extremely rare. As a fine work of the Qianlong period, this four-armed Guanyin double-eared vase is rare in the world, with immeasurable market and cultural values. It is not only a piece of porcelain, but also a cultural link connecting the Qing court with the contemporary world, carrying the porcelain making technology, royal aesthetics and Buddhist cultural connotations of the Qing Dynasty, and is an important physical material for studying the history of Qing Dynasty ceramics and court Buddhist culture. Every appreciation is a dialogue with Qing Dynasty court culture, feeling the charm of enamel-colored porcelain art and the profound connotation of Buddhist culture.
